ALL about MRS DIVELBISS

I am in my eighth year in the Due West STEM Lab. Sometimes I can't believe I've been teaching science for that long. It's gone by fast! Here are a few things about me that you may not know. I grew up and went to college in Auburn, Alabama and met my husband there when we were both in the marching band.  My son Christian is 19 and will start his sophomore year at Auburn University Fall 2019. He is third generation on my side of the family to attend, my dad also went to Auburn. We love Auburn football whether we're winning or losing, which means in the fall we bleed orange and blue at our house! I love baseball and since Christian is no longer playing I'm always looking for a game to go see. Send me your schedule and I'll see you at Oregon Park.

Students often ask me if we do science at home. While we're all nerdy in my family, we don't do much science experimenting outside of school. We do love watching fun, educational tv shows. Some of my favorites are Expedition Unknown, Star Trek Next Generation and Outrageous Acts of Science. I also love to read in my free time. The classics are great, but if you recommend a book I'll give it a chance. I enjoy reading all kinds of stories. I'm excited to work with Mrs. Spurgeon again this year and lead the fifth grade after school book club. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen is one of my all time favorite books and my favorite book from book club last year was Cinder, which was recommended by one of my students.
